How a hotel group sets board design defaults for all its properties, locks them, and what property teams see in the display editor.
Group defaults for boards
A hotel group with several properties usually wants its lobby boards to feel related: the same row style, the same clock, the same way of showing a delay. Group defaults let the organization set these design options once for every property, and, where it matters, lock them so they stay the same everywhere.
Who can use group defaults
Group defaults are a Premium feature for hotel groups that run their properties in one organization. Only the organization owner can change them. Owners and managers can see which defaults are in place.
Every option still needs the plan it normally needs. The organization can only set options that its plan includes, and a property's screens only show an option when that property's plan includes it; otherwise the screen uses the standard value for that option.
How the layers stack
A board's design options come from four layers. Each layer can set an option, and a later layer wins over an earlier one:
Without the lock, group defaults are a starting point. A property or display that has set an option itself keeps its own value, so a new group default does not change a display that already has its own choice for that option.
What the lock does
With the lock switched on, every option the group has set wins over property and display settings, on every screen of every property. Options the group has left unset stay free, and property teams can go on choosing them as they like.
The lock covers only the design options, the settings you find in a display's Design tab such as type and rows, status, time, footer and screen options. It never touches the logo, the languages, the airports or a display's own colours. Logo and colours follow a separate switch, Lock branding under Organization → Branding.

What property teams see
In the display editor, on the Design tab, a locked option carries the badge Set by your group and its control cannot be changed. Everything else works as usual: the team can pick styles, adjust any option the group has not locked, and save.
Even if a style, a copied design or an imported design file contains a different value for a locked option, the screen shows the group's value. This keeps the boards consistent without anyone having to police each display.
Setting defaults and applying them
The screen where the organization owner sets the defaults and switches the lock on or off is part of the group portal and is coming with this release. It also brings a way to apply the defaults to existing displays: before you confirm, it shows how many displays will be affected, and the change can be undone. Until that screen appears in your account, please write to us and we will help you with your first set of defaults.
Every change to the group defaults is recorded in the organization's audit log. Screens pick up changed defaults on their next update, within about 20 seconds.
Troubleshooting
A property team cannot change an option. If the option shows Set by your group, the organization has set and locked it. Ask the organization owner whether it should stay that way.
A group default does not show on one property's screens. Without the lock, a property or display that set the option itself keeps its own value. It is also possible that the property's plan does not include that option; in that case the screen shows the standard value.
The logo or colours do not follow the group. Those are not part of group defaults. Check Lock branding under Organization → Branding.
The owner cannot set an option for the group. The option needs a higher plan than the organization has. The option shows a plan badge in the editor.
